[NL25] bloated pot with TPMK

Not many reads against villain, too loose pre flop

I felt lost on this hand as soon as I paired my medium ace on this 3betted pot. Maybe should I flat call to begin with?

His flop call, small turn bet and half size pot shove looked weird, but a thinking player realizing a have a weak ace or a mid pair would play the same. I nonetheless have 3 to 1 odds.

I don't think you 3-bet this to play TPMK for value thru 3 streets... I'm with you thru the flop c-bet, but I'm prolly check/folding this on the Turn. You're behind AT+, A2, A3 & A7. That puts you ahead of only 4 Ax combos and tieing with 1. You're also behind 22,33 and any 7 on the River. The only way you win this is a) you're up against a total f-tard betting 3 streets with sub-As hand or b) someone decent bluffing you triple-barrel style... I'm personally not waiting around to find out...

What's too loose? Often if they open to loose, they call to loose. How does he play post? If he's tight 3bet/cbet, if he's going to fight for pots that you're not prepared to defend either call pre, or just fold.

On the turn he's value towning you by having you call a bet you can't get away from on the river. You need to realize this and before you call the turn realize what you're going to do on the river.

Checking this flop is likely judicious.

I agree. I think a check on the flop is rather mandatory actually. Reason being is nothing on the flop is likely to have hit him except for possibly the Ace. Therefore, this constitutes a way ahead/way behind situation I believe. If you have the best hand right now, he is drawing to 2-3 outs usually (that is 2 if he has a pp, or 3 if he has a lower ace), and if you are behind you are drawing to 3 outs.

on the flop, it's WA/WB

just check/call the entire way and the pot won't be as bloated
you helped make it bloated by betting the flop

or dump it if you give him credit

You made a seemingly small mistake PF that will cost you tons of money in the long-run.

Start folding here PF and if you 3bet, make it to a correct size like $4-$4.50.

I hear a lot that 3betting is a powerful weapon at NL25, but I must :

1) plan hand in advance
2) choose better spots or at least know better villain's tendencies
3) size bet correctly

I reluctantly called and villain showed a crazy T5s but I felt really dirty after, hence the post. Thanks for all your comments guys!

Prob when you're really good at hand reading, but you can get along just fine without it (by without it I mean light 3betting)
